Will McinnesWilliam McInnes always had a passion for acting, and always wanted to attend a drama school- but never had the time. It wasn’t until 2009, when a friend of his recommended Point Break Drama Acting School. He went along to a end of term performance, signed up on the spot and  has flourished ever since.

He started with Drama Games, and quickly honed his skills in the improvisation arena, making it his forte. He took out a few individual improv awards, and his Drama Game group took out the junior competition. He continued classes for the whole year enjoying every single moment of the weekly sessions he had at Point Break Drama under the guidance of Adam Stewart, Matt Charleston & Paul Winchester.

In 2010, William again excelled in the Drama Games competition, taking out 2 individual awards, 3 team awards as well as the junior and adult competitions. In this same year he also took part in Point Break Drama’s performances at Belrose Library, as part of the Festival of Literature, helping to bring to life short stories written by children from across the Northern Beaches.

William also participated in Point Break Drama’s Halloween performance at Warringah Mall Library, performing to kids from all over the Northern Beaches. He also was invited to be a member of the Point Break Drama Advanced class where he was placed into a serious role and challenged to perform in a way he had never done before. In late 2010 he landed a chorus role in his school’s production of Godspell, finding a passion for musical Theatre. William was voted Best Performer of the Year in 2010 by his peers at the Point Break Drama presentation day.

In 2011 William was shocked to learn that he had won the Point Break Drama Scholarship for the 14+ category, as well as landing a lead role in his school’s second musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He also landed his first television role, playing an Emo in a satirical ad for popular ABC show, The Gruen Transfer. Although he found it hard, he loved every minute of it, working alongside Point Break Drama mentor Paul Winchester and fellow student Indi Kwong.

Since the start of 2011, William has discovered himself more as an actor and hopes to pursue acting in the future. What started as a weekly release has turned into a fervour for acting and drama. He has also discovered a love for musical theatre, hoping that with hard work, he may be able to make it into the crazy world of show business. He hopes that one day he will be able to repay the dramatic world, for all it has done for him.
