The Stevie Ray Workshop Online is a fantastic opportunity for participants to get industry insight & knowledge. Point Break Drama is thrilled to welcome one of Australia’s very best casting directors, Stevie Ray from Mcgregors casting house to present his casting Workshop online. This is Stevie’s first time at Point Break Drama. Stevie will present via the online conferencing app, Zoom.
Stevie has been involved and directly cast some of Australia’s and Hollywood’s biggest projects like San Andreas, Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, Little Monsters. We are super excited to welcome Stevie to Point Break.

Term 2 Online Preparation
Point Break Drama is now presenting classes via an online video conferencing platform. We will be using both Google ” Hangouts” and / or “Zoom” . Participants will need a GMAIL email address, a device to access and Apps downloaded on either phone, tablet or Laptop..Laptops are preferred.

Stevie Ray Workshop Online
The day will begin with an in-depth Q & A . This is everyone’s chance to pick the brains of a casting director. Stevie will also offer insights into the casting process. Then participants will present a pre – prepared scene. ( Scripts will be emailed the week running up to the workshop). There will be a mock casting session with opportunity to watch each others work, and ask further questions. Stevie will also offer specific individualized feedback.

The Casting Director
Stevie Ray has worked in casting for the past 12 years with McGregor Casting. He has worked across all performance platforms – theatre, TV commercials, TV and web series, short and feature films. Some examples of his web and TV series work include the popular ABC series The Moodys, Here Come The Habibs for Channel 9, The Let Down and Diary of an Uber Driver for the ABC and the AACTA nominated and multi-award winning web series High Life. His short film work includes the AACTA nominated film, Flat Daddy, the AACTA winning and Oscar nominated film, The Eleven O’Clock, and more recently he was awarded the Casting Guild of Australia award for Best Casting for a Short Film for Strangers. He has been an associate on a number of feature films including the AACTA nominated film Wish You Were Here, The Rover and San Andreas. He has been casting director on the feature films Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, Little Monsters, Single Rider, 6 Days and won a Casting Guild of Australia award for Best Casting in a Feature Film for Down Under. Soon to be released are the feature films Babyteeth and Penguin Bloom. His TV commercial work on the Qantas ‘Feels Like Home’ campaign garnered him a Casting Guild of Australia award for Best Casting in a TVC.
