Stanislavski Scene Study Adult

Saturday September 9, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Stanislavski Scene Study with Malcolm Frawley

Stanislavski Scene Study: The Father of Naturalism’s ‘method’ encouraged actors to reproduce human behaviour as realistically as possible.

It was embraced around the world & is employed by most successful actors in film, television & theatre.

A modicum of theory will be discussed but the main thrust will be to provide you with an opportunity to experiment with creating a fictional world that feels entirely real.

We will work on a couple of short scenes from contemporary plays as well as experiment with naturalistic, story-telling, improvisation. Scenes will be workshopped through the use of Improvisation.

Scenes will be allocated aprox two weeks from the workshop to ensure you have time to work on the scenes and learn dialogue.

Previous experience required to be accepted into this class. You must have at least one year of training. If we don’t know you please send a link to a reel or a scene that you have done recently.

Stanislavski Scene Study Outcomes

  • Increasing your capacity to delve beneath the words & expose your character’s inner world.
  • Learning how to embody your character through movement, gesture & touch.
  • Expanding your ability to draw upon lived experience & observed behaviour to better service the emotional demands of your characters.
  • Acquiring the understanding that the skill the best actors use in creating memorable characters is to, effectively, not be ‘acting’.
  • Developing the confidence to back your own instincts & judgement.
