Shakespeare Bootcamp 9 – 16yrs
The Shakespeare Bootcamp Masterclass will help actors to get audition ready, with techniques & exercises to further your understanding of text & performance styles. Taught by Shakespearean director & actor Blair Cutting.
There are two age groups 9-16yrs and 17 + adult. Each Masterclass will be conducted over two consecutive Saturdays on 5th & 12th Sept, in two four hour blocks.
After registration, actors will be emailed a selection of Shakespearean monologues/soliloquies. Participants will be required to select ONE, to prepare prior to attending your first Masterclass session. Please learn, make acting choices for the commencement of the workshop.
Also included will be a “cheat sheet” of tips, to guide you in preparing your piece.
Shakespeare Bootcamp Details
Week 1 will commence with a physical and vocal warmup, followed by a brief overview of Shakespearean technique, including a summary of how to get the most from the language.
Each participant will then perform their selected piece, which will be critiqued and reworked in front of the rest of the class.
In the last hour of Session 1, you will be put in pairs, and be given a Shakespeare scene. These will be cold-read in class, with suggestions given for you to implement for the following week.
Week 2 will again commence with a physical and vocal warmup.
Each pair will then perform their scenes, which will again be critiqued and reworked in front of the rest of class.
This session will conclude with a summary of what’s most important to understand in approaching Shakespeare from a performance angle, and a brief Q & A.

Shakespeare Tutor – Blair Cutting
Blair Cutting has taught, performed and directed Shakespeare for more than thirty-five years.
COVID – 19 Safety Policy
1.) No one with Cold or Flu like symptoms will be permitted in the venue including students, parents, teachers. Symptoms including but not exclusive to sore throats, runny nose, sneezing & coughing.
2.) Do not come to class / workshop if you’ve made contact with someone with Covid – 19 in last 14 days.
3.) Windows and doors will be left open to ensure continuous air flow.
4.) Parent / guardian are not permitted to enter the venue. All students are to be dropped and signed in at the foyer entrance to venue.
5.) All students must apply hand sanitiser upon entry.
5.) Participants will be sent home if not feeling well
6.) All kitchen surfaces, door handles & knobs will be wiped down with disinfectant before and after class.
7.) Participants must keep safe 1.5 distance from teachers. Adult students must maintain 1.5 metre from each other.
8.) Participants must bring water bottle ( No cups provided). NO sharing of food permitted.
9.) In the event of any future Covid- 19 out breaks / closure of venue / teachers falling sick etc make up classes will be offered on the zoom platform.
10.) In the event of future shutdowns refunds will not be offered. Classes will be offered on zoom.
