Online Impro Gym – The Character Sessions
The Impro Gym – The Character Sessions is an extensive 6 week online Improvisation course designed to give students more flexibility, range , confidence and technique to enable students to think clearly and creatively without the blocks.
TV Improv shows like “Who’s Line is It Anyway” have amazed, enthralled and thoroughly entertained audiences with actor’s ability to easily make up and perform on the spot with no rehearsal and no script. Its time to learn the secrets and practice the techniques allow this to happen.
Point Break Drama’s Impro Gym – the character sessions, promises to be a huge amount of fun, and challenging. Best of all there is no stress or pressure to learn dialogue … You just need to attend class with an open mind for training!
IN THE ONLINE WORLD WE WILL GO INTO GREATER DETAIL WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND THE “CHOICES” WE MAKE AS ACTORS.
DO WE ALWAYS JUST PLAY A VERSION OF OURSELVES? ARE WE STUCK IN OUR OWN PATTERNS AND BEHAVIOURS? IMPROVISATION IS A GREAT WAY TO BUILD CONFIDENCE, AND TRY OUT NEW TOOLS IN A CONSTRUCTIVE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT.
PARTICIPANTS WILL EXPLORE THEIR OWN RANGE AND UNCOVER STRENGTHS AND AREAS FOR DEVELOPMENT.
PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ASKED TO CHOOSE THEIR “DREAM ROLE” AND ONE THEY WOULD FIND VERY CHALLENGING.
WE WILL APPLY VARIOUS “TOOLS” AND UTILISE IMPROVISATION TO PLUMB THE DEPTHS OF THE CHARACTERS BACKSTORY AND BRING THEM TO LIFE.
ADDED TO ALL THIS, WE WILL PLAY, AND MAKE THE MOST OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF THE ONLINE WORLD!
PARTICIPANTS WILL BE “HOT SEATED” AND GIVEN VARIOUS CHALLENGES TO DEEPEN THE CONNECTION TO CHARACTER.
Life is improvisation, all those improv classes were like church to me. The training had seeped into me and changed who I am. Tina Fey

Improv Gym at Point Break Drama is quite easily one of the most challenging and ridiculously fun classes you can take. All our time as adults spent controlling impulses, outcomes and behaviour gets chucked out the window in favour of acting completely on instinct, as well as learning to be genuinely present & playing as a team with a bunch of complete strangers. The results of the games can be fascinating and absolutely riotous. It cracks your head open to a whole new way of thinking and has added a new edge & courage to all the work I do.
