The US Accent Workshop intensive will give participants an edge in castings. Point Break Drama is thrilled to welcome one of Australia’s best accent coaches, Kai Paynter for an exclusive two day action- packed American Accent Workshop for Adults on the 14th & 21st March 2020.
Kai will take students through a workout of the Standard American Accent.
The workshop will take place over two half days (2pm – 6pm) on both 14th & 21st March.
With locally made American films and self taping now the norm, its vital for all aspiring actors to have great American accents.

Kai will take students through a series of exercises & drills,applying them to American scene work in front of the camera.

The Coach
Kai Paynter was born in Ontario, Canada, into a South African family of African and Israeli heritage. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, MFA Acting program and also Purdue University.
Kai studied alongside Grace Byers, Kara Song Wang and at Purdue University, graduates included John Lovitz and Sir Bill Duke. She started her performing career as a singer, travelling nationally and internationally,as a featured soloist with Purdue Musical Organization.
Following graduation from the MFA program, under artistic direction from world renowned theatre legend Robert Cohen, Kai relocated to Los Angeles.
Kai was recently featured in the US Airways Inflight Magazine for her role as Abigail in The Crucible, where the magazine recognized her alma mater as being the #1 “training institution for young creative talent”. She recently appeared on CBS’s Criminal Minds opposite Joe Mantegna.
As a writer/director, Kai is currently pitching a US pilot in LA, making rounds in the entertainment circuit. Together with partner, Kirk Carrington-Hastings they formed BearTiger Productions where they produce and develop music, film, theatre, television, radio, and digital content.
As an instructor, Kai has coached for television, as well as many actors who gained entry into such institutions as Columbia University, NYU (Tisch), and Yale University in dramatic studies. Kai’s teaching background includes: acting for the camera and the stage, voice and speech, voice – over and accent, movement for the actor, singing and musical theatre.
